ALVIN R. McCOWAN PRINCIPAL PARTNER
Al McCowan is the former Mayor of the Village of University Park. He served as Mayor from 2001-2011 where he also served on the Board of Trustees prior to becoming mayor. He was Chairman of the South Suburban Airport Commission, formerly know as the Abraham Lincoln National Airport Commission (ALNAC). Under ALNAC, University Park was represented the lead municipality in the airport project. McCowan served as President of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, an organization of more than thirty-five municipal mayors. He served 19 years on the Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors and held offices as Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Secretary. Al has been involved property acquisition, debt restructuring, workout negotiations, refinancing, new construction and more than 100 million dollars of renovation projects. He has worked with projects regulated by HUD and the Illinois Housing Development Authority. He has more than 30 years of real estate experience, including Downs & Mohl Company, Metroplex Inc, The Habitat Company and as a consultant for Realty & Mortgage Co. While at The Habitat Company from 1990 until 2007, as Senior Vice President of Property Management, McCowan supervised the operation of 15,000 residential units in six states including market rate, subsidized housing, family and senior housing, public housing, co-operative housing, single-room occupancy, student housing and affiliated commercial space.
